Fairfield

Fairfield, Ohio

The city of Fairfield, Ohio, is located about 25 miles north of Cincinnati, on the east bank of the Great Miami River. At the time of the 2010 census, the population in Fairfield was more than 42,000. Fairfield is located in both Hamilton and Butler Counties and has one of the largest school districts in Ohio. With a significant population, it could be the ideal time for the residents of this growing city to consider kitchen and bath renovations from Countertops and Cabinetry by Design.

Until the mid-20th century, Fairfield was a quiet, primarily agricultural community. Once the City of Hamilton’s growing industries expanded south into Fairfield, industrial businesses grew rapidly. A manufacturing division of General Motors, Fisher Body, established a plant at the northeast corner of State Route 4 and Symmes Road. Industrial growth in Fairfield led to residential growth, as well. Unprecedented residential growth in the 1970s, led to a push for “balanced growth” in Fairfield.

General Motors announced the Fisher Body Plant would be phased out in 1989, leading to a loss of not only 28 percent of the income tax revenue of the city, but also the loss of 2,500 jobs. The 1990s brought economic balance back to Fairfield with diverse business development, as well as an expansion of the city sewer system, detention basins for stormwater control, road improvements, and planning for a town center. Today, Fairfield boasts a highly diversified economy; the top two employers in the city are insurance companies.

In an interesting turn of events, Jungle Jim’s International Market—which today has annual sales of almost $100 million and 50,000 weekly shoppers—began in Fairfield in 1974 as a fruit stand. The planning commission at the time very reluctantly approved the request for the fruit stand on the condition the owner would construct a permanent storefront. He did, and the Market not only brings significant revenues to the city of Fairfield, but it is also considered a tourist destination stop.

FAQs for Your Fairfield, Ohio Kitchen or Bathroom Remodel

Your kitchen sink is likely the most used appliance in your kitchen, and your bathroom sinks probably also get a pretty high level of use. At Countertops and Cabinetry by Design, we receive many questions regarding how to choose the “right” sink. While the “right” sink for you will depend on a number of factors, including your personal taste, the level of use the sink will receive, and how it will integrate with the rest of your kitchen or bath design, consider these facts about sinks.

  • Should I choose a stainless-steel sink? Stainless steel sinks cover a variety of uses, and strong 18/10-gauge stainless steel offers exceptional durability. While precautions are necessary when using cast iron skillet, a bottom grid will provide added scratch protection to your stainless-steel sink. Stainless steel sinks go very well with most appliance color schemes.
  • What about a Granite Composite sink? A composite sink is a great alternative to a stainless-steel sink. Made of composite material, granite particulate, and resin, granite sinks are extremely scratch resistant and are resistant to staining and cracking as well.
  • Should I consider a decorative bowl sink in my bathroom? Decorative bowl sinks are colorful, durable, and all-around fun. These decorative bowl sinks come in a wide range of styles, shapes, and designs; the bowl sinks are available in under-mountable, on-counter, and Vessel bowls and are specially designed for beautiful bathrooms and living spaces.
