Symmes Township, Ohio

Symmes Township is located in Hamilton County, Ohio. It is one of the county’s twelve townships. Like other townships in the county, Symmes Township has been cut into two “islands,” due to annexation by the surrounding cities. Both islands are in the northeastern corner of the county. Symmes Township was formed in 1824 and was named for John Cleves Symmes, a Continental Congress delegate and early Ohio settler. He made the Miami Purchase, also known as the Symmes Purchase, in 1788, which laid the foundation for the City of  Cincinnati. The land in Symmes Township was also part of this 1788 purchase.

For much of its history, Symmes Township was mainly rural farmland. However, in the second half of the twentieth-century, thanks to highways and suburban subdivisions, the area grew by leaps and bounds. Between 1970 and 2010, the population of Symmes Township grew from about 3,726 to over 14,600. Today, Symmes Township is strategically located for business, as well as being an attractive residential area. The Township boasts extensive parks, totaling over 196 acres, and is served by three highly-rated school districts: Loveland, Sycamore, and Indian Hills Schools. As the area continues to grow and flourish, Countertops and Cabinetry by Design will continue to offer excellent service for residents’ kitchen and bath remodeling needs.

FAQs for Your Symmes Township, Ohio Kitchen or Bathroom Remodel

Some of the most frequent questions we receive from Symmes Township residents at Countertops and Cabinetry by Design are related to granite countertops. If you want a beautiful, durable, sustainable countertop, you should definitely consider granite for your Symmes Township home. Granite countertops can last a lifetime, contain no harmful chemicals, and do not emit harmful gasses. Further, granite countertops are extremely durable and heat-resistant, and while a typical kitchen will require 2-3 seams in the countertop installation, our fabricators will mix custom color epoxy to adhere the seams together, largely disguising them. The most frequent questions we are asked about our granite countertops include:

  • Will cutting on my granite countertops damage them? Cutting on your granite countertop is highly unlikely ever to damage the countertop—although your knife could suffer some damage! In fact, granite scores a seven on Moh’s Scale of Hardness, meaning very few minerals exist which can scratch the surface of the granite countertop.
  • What if a glass or plate is dropped on my granite countertop? Consider the fact that granite requires multiple hits with a sledgehammer to break the surface, and you will understand that granite is an extremely durable material. While just the right force and angle could conceivably damage a granite countertop, it is extremely unlikely.
  • Once my granite countertop is sealed, how should I care for it? Dish soap and a nylon scrubber will remove the oils on the surface of the granite countertop, but will not penetrate the sealer, leaving a shine which will make you proud. You will also need to reseal your granite countertops periodically, depending on the type of sealer and the frequency of use.
  • Can I set a hot pan from the stove on my granite countertop? Countertops and Cabinetry By Design recommends that you use a trivet or hot pad on your granite countertop to set hot pans on.

In addition to granite countertops, Countertops and Cabinetry by Design offers quartz, natural stone and solid surface countertops, a wide array of kitchen and bath cabinets, faucets and sinks, and kitchen tile.
